Steam power plants are conventional thermal power plants. These power plants are designed in a variety of fashions depending on the available fuel. Steam power plants are distinguished for their stable generation capacity under various atmospheric conditions.
Shazand steam power plant in Iran's central province and Sahand power plant in Eastern Azerbaijan province were the first such projects commissioned by Mapna Group.
In pursuit of the nation's mega energy policies, Mapna Group has mainly concentrated on the construction of gas and combined cycle power plants rather than steam power plants, however, there are plans underway within Mapna Group for the transfer of know-how required for the manufacture of the main components and construction of large scale steam power plants.
